Konsthallen in Hishult ”MÄNGAT”

Björn Wessman exhibits huge panoramas where Abiskos wilderness meets the long valleys of the French Pyrenee´s. In a suite smaller paintings called ”All Landscapes” you are invited to new voyages. In the new buildning of the Konsthall , you can relax and vanish in to an monumental painting ”Nationalpark 357”, 3x5 meter. You will also find ” The landscapes in me”- a film with Björn in Languedoque made by Janne Forssell. The japanese garden ” Asa stenar” celebrates its 10th anniversary and Björn will add ”Pers Port” to honour the tradition of woodcraftship of the region. His new book ”Mänga” will be released, 320 pages with generous illustrations of one decades painting.
Mänga: is a word that for me includes veriety, completeness and saturation. Pigments who gets strength ,mass that takes form, as well as pictures words sediments in us.
The landscapes I paint is filled with my thouroughly subjective purposes.
They content an immense of views for the observer to get lost in. In the jungles of Australia I found structure and order in an apparently chaotic nature.
In confrontation by the circumstantial widths in Tornedalen, in the Pyrenées or in Tasmania I find the hazard organized in border mountain and vegetative categorisation. To ”mänga” my landscapes brings me structure in the abstractions of the brushwood.
My landscapes are arbitrary creations traceable to the botanization in parks and gardens, mountains and valleys, woods and glades, all places that has given me a permanent mark. To join this kaleidoskop of fragments from north to south is for me a not harmless journay that luckily has not come to an/ reached an end yet.

Projects
During the passed year Björn Wessman has cooped with Peer Ericsson at Peer. They have made the book ”Mänga” , published by Arena. The book has the format A3-format and 320 pages.
It contents a presentation of Björns work from the last 10 years with mainly pictures in bigger formats. The reason is to try to give the reader an impression of the paintings volym with its wide panoramas.
The texts are writtened by Olle Granath , Claes Grundsten and Björn Wessman.
